You're not alone.......... moving can be a traumatic experience. Sioux Falls, South Dakota was my home. Even though I was in the real estate business... can you
imagine, I never ventured beyond the 50 mile radius of my hometown. Due to my health, I found I needed a warmer climate. What, me move? It's a big world out there! Talk about traumatic!
Regardless of my feelings, I had to move. In the winter of 78-79 I decided to check out Texas. After visiting Corpus Christi in May, I decided to make it my new home. Then, at the last minute, I met someone
from McAllen and that chance meeting changed my life. Upon my return to Sioux Falls, I contacted the McAllen Chamber of Commerce. The person I spoke with was so very enthusiastic. Within three days I
received a complete packet about McAllen and immediately decided to move there.
Renting an apartment over the phone and arriving in the town of McAllen, sight unseen, was definitely a memorable
experience. And then there was my daughter. At age 16, I don't need to tell you what she thought of the situation. Of course, it didn't help that she was moved from a parochial school of 700 to a
public school of 4,000.
This experience has made me aware of the emotional feelings
involved with relocation. There may be different reasons for your
